Mark: I have had great luck with Kenwood Marine products. 5.25" coax speakers, 10" sub-woofers. I plan on re-working my 419 with the 5.25" in place of the 6x9 and then placing 2-10" subs under the rear seat. I use a 1000 watt amp for just the subs and a 600 watt amp for the 5.25's. I also use a Kenwood automotive head unit with the usb port and auxillary port. Has un-wired remote and a wired remote lead for the boat. I have these speakers in my Fountain 38EC and it is the best stereo I have ever owned. Use a boomer capacitor for the sub-woofer amp to give you a tighter base. The speakers and amps are cheap on e-bay. I bought the head unit from Best Buy. My 2 cents, good luck.

why not just stay with the 6x9's?? I was thinking of using memphis speakers and new subs which currently are in the front of the lounge area. Some of my current kenwood stuff is blown. mark

I just upgraded my stereo after doing many days of research. This is what I have done so far.
Speakers:
8 JL Audio 7.7 Components (New) Paid $269/pr Millionbuy.com
http://marine.jlaudio.com/products_c...hp?prod_id=421
4 MB Quartz Components (couple yrs old)
2 MA audio subs (Junk) Will be replacing with JL W7 12s soon.
Amps:
2 Alpine PDX 4.150 (New) Paid $379ea on Ebay
http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/prod...odel=PDX-4.150
1 TMA mono (Junk)
This system totally rocks and is so crisp. Very loud and Zero distortion. I mounted the PDX amps under the glove box where they get free air cooling. I ran this system for 5hrs straight at full volume much of the time and it didn't get to hot and never shut down. Running 2 blue tops and she started right up. I, and many others on the beach say they were very impressed with this set up, other than the subs.
I recommend these PDX amps. very much. You won't be disappointed.
I will post some pics of my set up.
