I have had a Whipple on my stock 496 for over 100hr and 3 years. There not for everyone and the 496 is not the best powerplant to put one on. But it can live and can be done. I love the Whipple and power is sweet.

I agree. I ran one personally & have done others. They can run quite well if set up right. The downside is they are costly & if you do want to play it as safe as possible then upgrading the insides is an extra expense. But they can be reliable without replacing the internals. But no arguing that Better insides are better.. Jamie / Lakeside

Does the whipple kit for the 496 require more room under the hatch, forward and height?

The key to reliability is in the setup. Whipple kits are the most complete and when setup per Dustins instructions, you should have many trouble free hours of fun.
