Default 6.2 bearing problems

I have a 2004 Formula 292 Fastech with twin 6.2 Mercs. Last year the starbord side engine let go, main bearing and 1 rod bearing failure. Unknown which one went first. Under warranty but now I'm concerned about the Port motor.

I have been told that in 2004-2005 rod bearings were torqued wrong and they had a 9% failure rate. I have also been told that wrong main bearings were used (wrong clearance) which caused the failure.

Port side has good oil pressure and no signs of problems. Has anyone else had this problem or heard of of wrong bearings/wrong torque?
