That's gonna be bonded together. Most likely you will have to cut it in half, glass it back together. The amount of work will be substantial. If its not completely bonded and sealed back together well, it will leak exhaust all over (Black streaks all over the sides).

Are you SURE you got all the bolts! Arn't there some inside and out? There is a thread on OSO about release agent for 3M 5200 some place as well. Maybe that stuff will help you out.

I would also contact Magic Float and or Formula TAG and ask them if there are any tricks.

Why are you trying to split the top half from the bottom? Normally, to repair a leaking or rotted platform, you replace the wood where the platform mates to the transom. I don't understand what you're trying to fix by splitting open the platform.

In any event, I believe Formula used the same adhesive to hold the platform halves together that they used for the deck-to-hull joint. It's some serious stuff that will not let go. You'll end up breaking/tearing the fiberglass before that glue lets loose.

Your probably better off removing the whole thing from the back of the boat. I doubt you'll get it seperated in two pieces. I pulled mine off last year and it was fairly easy to get off, I'm rebuilding the interior now. I did unfortunately have to cut the u-bolts off on the top half. They were marine tex'd in the threads so the actuall U bolts were bonded to the holes in the hull. I had to individually un thread them from the holes and the only way to turn them was to cut the "U" and thread the remaining studs out like screws. I have to purchase a new set now when I re-install it.
