Merc Blancer Dimensions
Can anyone give me the outside dimensions (diameter and total width) of a Merc 454/502 balancer? I'm having one shipped and I want to know the smallest flat rate box that they'll fit into.

wj,
If you want to call me in the morning, I have a brand new 502 one sitting on my front counter that I can measure for you and give you the measurement on the phone. I think it is probably closer to and maybe over 2" total hgt if you include the hub.

WJ,
I measured the damper just now. It is 8" diameter and just at 2 5/8" "thick" To be honest with you, if I was shipping it there is no way it would go with the Post Office. I would double box it (one inside another) and send it UPS. The USPS Flat Rate box might save you a couple of bucks and some time, depending on how far it has to go, but I have found over the years that UPS is generally a lot more dependable.
Just my opinion,
