'Offshore' BBC mounts?
Hi from Guernsey in the Channel Islands!
I'm rebuilding a revenger 25 which has a (now supercharged) 8.2 BBC in the back on a bravo drive.
The motor used to be mounted on a form of solid mounts in the standard location in the middle of the block. A friend of mine punched a mount through the side of his block last year though, to me the standard mount location doesn't look ideal for offshore racing, which my revenger will be doing.
I've noticed some v drive and jet boats use a mount which is effectively a plate which bolts to the front of the motor, then mounts to the stringers. Would this be a stronger way for me to mount?
I'm thinking you guys would know better than me what mounts I should be using, as it's quite a small boat it's gonna get thrown around a lot, so there's gonna be serious strain on these mounts in every direction.
Any suggestions? Could anyone link me to a good product to use or to somewhere that sells the plates I mentioned?
Thanks very much,
James
