502 gen 6 stock cam
I am looking for an upgrade cam for my gen 6 502 and looking to be able to keep my stock lifters and valve setup. The motor is carbureted and has emi manifolds on it. Does any one know what brand the cams are in the 502s and any suggestions for an upgrade. Thanks Eric

You can change the camshaft in almost any engine, that does not mean you are going to get more power. Talk to someone like Bob at RMBuilders and see if a cam only change will really net you any significant power for the cost and difficulty. Usually you need more than just cam, like heads or head work and such and then you may hit the wall with what the intake manifold is capable of delivering for air flow to support a bigger cam and heads with exhaust.

I just purchased two from Bob this week.
Its not worth your time keeping the stock springs etc.
To do it right you need to change springs, retainers and set it up for the correct hieght.
Not cheap, and if I had to do it over again I would have left it alone. I wanted a cam with a fuel pump lobe so I would not have to run electric. I could have bought a box of pumps for what it ended up costing and will probably only gain 60-70HP.
