Default Arriva Engine Replacement

So I picked up my first boat a 92 Arriva made by Bayliner. The engine has water in the oil so I got this boat very cheap. One of our local boat shops has quoted me $3500 to replace the engine. This boat has a 5.7 MerCruiser engine.

Is the MerCruiser 350 the exact same as a chevy 350?

How do I make sure if I have a new Engine put in the boat, that it is a boat engine and not a car engine?

Would it matter if they put a chevy 350 in the boat?

I would think with just common sence that boat engines are made to work at high rpms and a car engines are made to have a transmission to keep the rpm's down.
