cmi exhaust gasket rope seal

im usen old school cmi e topesthe ones tht came in merc.they use a rope seal got some orderd but wont get here by this weekend .any mcgivers i can use to get me buy tell mine get here.

go to a plumbing store or a warehouse and get some rope they use to keep the lead in on cast iron pipes..measure the width first..

woodstove door rope (seal) @ most hardware stores.

I have the same headers and that is what I used. Its a basically a fiberglass rope coated with graphite. Get one that has about a 3/4" diameter if you can find it. Otherwise just wrap a 3/8 around a couple times.
