Blowers switch
Hello, once again i'm new to boating and just bought a 1987 F242SS and am wondering what the blowers switch is for and how often it should be on. Seems to me it blows hot air out the engine compartment, just can't figure out why it wouldn't automatically run anytime the motor is running. Thanks

Jason, the blower is for evacuating gas fumes from the engine compartment. It is supposed to run several minutes prior to startup and at any speed below cruising speed. I typically run mine before I crank the boat, and during long idles.

forgot to mention that its also a good way to seperate the talkers from the walkers... next time you have some big talkers on the boat with you, point out the switch and tell them that its for the "blower" on the engine, then when running tell them to hold on your about to kick on the blower... watch and see who holds on, you will then know not to listen to any teknickal advice from them!!!
