LISA MATTHEWS AND THE NAUTICOOL OFFSHORE RACING TEAM RAN THE HISTORIC RACE TO BIMINI IN THE BAHAMAS!
June 18, 2010: Siesta Key, FL. Team NautiCool Offshore Racing (NOR) competed in the third annual 101 mile race from Sunny Isles Beach, Fl. to the Bahamas and back on June 12. Team owner and driver Lisa Matthews was honored to have Stan Ware of Popeyes Offshore Racing throttle her 42' Fountain for the run. Ware has a long history in racing, starting out in a 17' Formula One tunnelboat for Al Copeland's Popeyes race team in 1974. He personally restarted Popeyes Offshore Racing in 2003 and the quest for victory began again. Stan continues his winning ways and was one of the founders and board members for the Offshore Super Series Powerboat Racing Association. (OSS)
Ware said "It was great to race with Lisa and her crew chief, Wayne Courson. We made it to the Island through some rough water and on the way back cracked a gimbal and shaft and the entire drive on one of the engines. This was a setback but to complete this historic race was the most important thing". Matthews is the World record holder fastest woman on the water at 157 MPH and won her first OSS race this year in Biloxi, MS. NOR was welcomed in Sunny Isles Beach by the Offshore Events producers, Brad Schoenwald and Larry Goldman as all the crews got set up in Racer's Village to get ready for the weekend.
The team was proudly sponsored by Persona magazine, Greedy Genius Shoes, and La Cortez Energy. Warren Henry Automobiles, Inc. displayed two new Jaguars in the Race Village area along with the NautiCool Offshore Racing's 42' Fountain boat equipped with twin 525 hp engines. The title sponsor is NAUTICOOL AIR which is an engine driven marine a/c system that means no need for 110 volt power. A revolutionary new concept in marine a/c. Finally a marine air conditioning system designed by boaters, for boaters, for on water use without the need for a noisy and bulky generator. A unique, patented design; what a cool idea for a hot boat! www.nauticoolair.com
Saturday night former New York Jets great Marvin Jones , Floyd Raglin (www.floydsportsmarketing.com ) and the Kitchen 305 restaurant and nightclub in the Newport Beach Hotel and Resort hosted a party for Lisa and her team. Haute couture designer Paola Zambony displayed her latest evening fashions for the racers and fans.
NautiCool Offshore Racing is gearing up for the 26th annual Suncoast Festival and Super Boat Grand Prix in Sarasota, FL. July 1-4th. Bring the entire family to meet Miss Matthews and enjoy fireworks and fast boats in Centennial park on the Bay!
