Default gen 6 502's what are they worth/trade

I have come to understand, I cannot afford to rebuild my Gen 6 motors.
One was running when pulled and other had a rod bearing go out.
I bought a 10/10 polished/fluxed crank and told the rods were good.
I had the heads done, and even had little pocket port work done on the bad motor.
neither had roller cams as they have flat tappet cams in them.

the bad motor was checked out by the machine shop and was ready for a rebuild when I lost my job. It is a standard bore.
I do not know about the other motor as not have had it apart to check.

Now, I was thinking about selling them and buying "running 454 motors to put in my 86 wellcraft eagle(as that was in it when new)

I have no idea what the motors are worth, or should I look for someone who wants to trade for running 454's...

Also, do I really need these motors (502s)and what would be the difference between the two. They are not high hp motors anyway...

what do you think???

I just want to have my boat running.

your half way their with the 502, i would finish what you started, put the other 502 back in and go boating.

if you go the 454 route your still going to need props and to make up the cost for 2 running 454's you may as well put that 502 back into running condition..

just my o2

well something is screwy here, they never produced a genVI without a roller cam, not sure why anybody would go back to a flat tappet ?? you say rods are good ? now way....may get by with reconditioning the one that spun a bearing...I would fix what you have properly..

Correction.... yes they did make flat tappet Gen 6 502's in the late 90's GM part #10185085 502 HO. I have 2 of them.

What model year? I see you have a 94 boat, that would be a Gen V.

I upgraded to new 502's in 1998 and they were gen 6 with the cast timing covers and flat tappet cams. Today they are the same blocks and timing covers the rest is a secret......dont ask I would have to kill you.

Thanks for the replies, I just don't have the money to build them.
I do not know what I am going to do...

well at this point I am going to sell them, one a running 502 and the other has had heads rebuilt and has crank done.
so just needs bore and rods reconditioned
I have them for $3000 each. is it too much???
