Default cavataion plate to bottom of boat distance?

from the bottom of my boat to the cavatation plate is almost 2.75 inchs i was wondering if this is too much, i cant get my boat to get much bow lift at wide open. im running a 25p mirage that has been tweaked a lil more with more cup. its a 22 foot boat with 8 ft beam and a 502 435hp. it runs about 66mph wide open, i was thinking it should run faster. a friend of mine took some pictures of the boat at wide open and it rides very flat in the water. how can i get it to have less wetted surface.

Measure how far below the propshaft is. That will give people a number they can understand.
What brand of hull????
What happens when you trim it higher????
Check for a hook in the last 3-5' of the hull.
A cupped Mirage prop should carry the bow easily.
