Yes you are having two problems. Hopefully the high water pressure did not cause an intake water leak. The mercuy pressure relief valve opens up at 25 lbs and you then bypass the extra water. They use to be cheap until Mercuy figured out no one made one as good as what they do and raised the price big time.
Oil thermostat will bypass the oil from going thru the cooler unitl the temp comes up. Then will bypass none or only enough oil to keep the temp in the correct temp range.

Where is the best place to buy the psi relief valve, and Oil Thermostat. I am having the same problem. Already replaced intake gaskets. Worked great all summer. I am starting to get condensation problems. with the cooler air, and water. Motor never gets over 155 degrees. Oil rarely gets over 185.

The summit ones are too small if I recall. Could be very restrictive. No very often do car items work on a boat with much higher stress loads. I have a set of Eickert oil thermostats I could sell cheap $100 each ($226 list) used one season 212 degree. Send me a message.

Brad
is that the same as the ones the CP sells? I'd like to mount it directly to my oil cooler to to minimize the oil runs.
is this one
