Pro charged 502 water temp
I just got a boat with a procharged 502 mag EFI the engine is a 1996. When on the throttle the temp jumps up to 230 when cruising or idling the temp drops to 190-180. Is this temp to high? The water pressure goes up to about 5 PSI or so. There does not seem to be any detonation. The engine has been upgraded to forged aluminum pistons and some other goodies if that matters. Thanks

Those temps are way HIGH and water pressure is way LOW. Sounds like you might need an impeller. Water temps should be in the 150 range and remain pretty constant. Water psi at WOT should be around 25psi.

Yeah this is intercooled. I will have to watch the pressure gauge next time a bit better, it might go higher then I said but not for sure. It shoots a pretty good stream out the side while running from the intercooler. It has a XR drive where is the impeller?
Also The engine has a electric water pump on it, how do you guys feel about this?

water pressure will never make those levels with the intercooler dumping out the side. as long as you're getting
10ish at speed, you'll be fine. However, I do agree that the temp is high. Depending on the water conditions where you boat, and no thermostat, you should be around 130-150.
my opinion is based on personal experience

It has a two stage sea pump instead of the merc one. Does it have a impeller some where else that needs to be replaced? I need to try and figure out if that electric water pump is working. I will pull the housing and see if they took the thermostat out.
On a side note what is to high for EGTS it runs around 1200 while on the throttle.

Are you sure your not reading boost pressure??
also you may have a low water pick up forcing the water through the intercooler instead of it coming from the sea pump..i would not run the boat until you get it all figured out..

Sorry not reading boost . Nope the intercooler is ran off a pump. It shoots water when the boat is running and not moving.
