Default 502's or 540's

I'm confused! The ID# on my bb are port side
OL414804 and starboard OL414792. I'm finding both number
sequences in two different motor listings. They are either
502/500 generation+ or 540/500 Bulldogs. They have B&M huffers and twin 650 double pumpers topside. Is there anyway to tell the difference just by looking at them. Your input is greatly appreciated.
Happy holiday ya'll.

The 540 is a tall deck with a block mounted fuel pump, the 502 has the water pump mounted one with no block boss for a pump.

You can use regular blocks to make 540's. I think you need to at least pull the pan and take some measurements.

Are they Hawks? They made 550, and 600 Hawks out of Merc 454's and 502's using B&M 250's.
