Default Rear facing speakers for '99 353

Has anyone out there been able to devise a rear speaker set up other than punching thru the seat base? I would love to find a small speaker that could mount to the rear of the bolster seats ( not sure where or how) and face the rear seat. Better sound , I think, for those folks riding in the back . Thoughts I'd see what might exist in the custom world. Thanks, Steve

I added subs then these in a 382 and it helped alot. The panel was too small so I made an entire new panel from starboard then wrapped it in factory matching vinyl. Cut a hole in the sidewall behind it so the speaker could fit through there.....

Nope, I put two 8" subs and two 6"x9" under the back seat on the kick board on my 353 and they work great, wish there was more space for even more speakers though.
Sorry, no pics and the boat is put to bed and covered up for the Winter.

You need to hook up with Axapowell. He has custom pods that are positioned behind the bolsters up tight to the inside of the gunwhales. Very nice, custom milled out of solid Corian I think, might be some other material. Very cool and very effective. I'm sure he would help you out with those. If you need any other 353 ideas, he's the king of 353 bling!!!!!

Thanks Guys. I will contact him. I just had my side coaming pieces redone, so hate to hack those up. I'll see what Axapowell has done. Thanks , Steve

Hey Axapowell, how about some pics, sounds like you've got it figured out.

Here is an 01, 312 in the classifieds on Speedwake that has speakers tucked into the back of the bolsters. http://www.speedwake.com/newclassifi...e=IMG_0420.JPG

Looks pretty good too. I rode this boat and the sound is great.

Thanks for the compliments guys...The only thing I am King of lately is work!!!

Business is good and geting better daily. Got to make the wage so I can play this summer!

Here's a shot of my speaker pods, but I think I have a better idea having tuned the system this summer. Not only having the pods, but also a vent tube into the gunwhale for more airspace. I vented the pods (drilled holes in the bottom where you can't see it) last spring and increased the volume quite a bit, so if I re-engineered them, I would use the gunwhale as airspace!

You could also go the factory route like t500hps did up top. I've been thinking about adding a couple resessed up there as well.

Dave

About time you got up to speed on this, was starting to think I should go thru our pics to see if I could find the pods for these guys.

Good to hear that your real job is working out for you. Ain't it a biotch being the chief cook and bottle washer all wrapped up in one! Has it's benefits in the end.
