Default Need help on my SR-1 271

Well this is what I got. Motor is a custom 496 makes close to 600hp 1.5 bravo 24p labbed bravo one prop. 64mph gps 5600rpm. I have never tried a 3 blade on the boat and I'm looking to be about 70mph " Miss my blower motor " but building the blower motor is not in the cards this year. back to my question. The boat gets real light in the stern coming of the power and wants to come around or skate to the starboard. I just talked to bblades and he said that my slip is @22% with a four blade on it "way to high". The lower unit is standard length, anyone encountered this problem.

I'm not sure what you mean by light in the stern and feels like it wants to come around. I had a 1993 271 SR-1 with stock 502 that I sold last year. When my gimbal wore out, the boat would hook to starboard when you backed off the power from a full throttle run. I replaced the gimbal and never had the problem again.

Well the boat just feels like it wants to hook after getting of the power. The boat has Hyd. steering on it and I just had the drive off it a couple of months ago. When it was apart I checked everthing. I'm woundering if the bravo one four blade has to much stern lift?

I had the same thing happen when I tried a 4 blade on my 223. The steering rack had some slop in it just from being worn out and the 4 blade made the boat all over the place at anything over half throttle. I just figured the 4 blade was more stern lifting. It was scary to drive so I went back to my 3 blade and never noticed it again.

Thanks! I just got burned on a old school mirage prop on ebay so the search is still on for a Mirage prop.

I have the original 23P Mirage from my '93 271. It was never used as the dealer put a Hydromotive 4 blade on the boat. PM me if you are interested.

Grab the drive and see if there is ANY side to side play. Does your Zync plate have a fin on it? If so make sure you have it located in the correct area. I ussually run my boat with out the fin style zyncs. My guess is you have a few small things adding up to a big one. If you can move the drive with your hand then it is going to be a LOT worse when you are running.

NO fin on the anoid it's flat. The drive is tight in all motions I have Hyd steering on it but it's not pulling when I'm on the throttle. Only coming off a speed run. frusting URRR. I never noticed this with the blower motor. I think a labbed prop is just giving my to much stern lift and it's not liking it.
