Default Looking for moderate HP increase 502 mag MPI

I have pulled my 97 502 mag MPI for rebuild with only a little over 200 hrs on it. It is using oil badly. I am intrested in gaining some HP in the process but not excessive. I have tossed around the idea of a whipple or pro charger but haven't made a decision on a supercharger or just building up and living with that.
My question is, what are some of the combinations you guys have built on a reasonable budget and had good luck with? What kind of numbers did that put out?
Any info would be a big help.

Thanks
Justin

A Whipple is not "moderate hp" and whats a reasonable budget?

A whipple is 10k or more to do it right, not counting the cost of the rebuild. Exhaust is $2500-5000 plus ecm tuning, etc. Tell us what you want to spend and some experts will help you out

jjmoos - I have the same boat as you and have done some decent upgrades that didn't break the bank. Shoot me an email [email protected] and I'll be glad to chat with you.

Indeed, a whipple will add more power & expense.. Great units tho.. Budget will be the biggest determining factor on how far you could go...

Im surprised your engine needs a rebuild at 200 hours. They usually go 500+ before any problems, but i suppose anything can happen.

send a message to Eddie at "Young Performance" on here. He is in Tennessee. Top notch work, top notch guy. He will probably have several options for you.

id say procharger.....or even a good heads/cam/intake package would be the best hp/$.

after all.....thats what the limiting factor for most upgrades is

How much do you consider "moderate" and what is your budget for the upgrade. A bigger cam, ecm upgrade and exhaust will get you about 60-70hp and will cost about 3-4k.
