hynautic steering question
Hi. I just purchased a complete setup with the k5 rams, helm, tank, hoses and relief valve. I was wondering if it would be possible to use these rams and do an add on type system while retaining my stock power steering components or just go the full manual helm route. Pros or cons. Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

You could just do an add on system. If you have cable steering you could just add the valves to you existing cable/cylinder on the inside back of your transom. You plumb your cylinders off of that. Depending on year you would need the Saginaw valve or Brazilian valve.
If your cable is loose it really is not much harder to add a hydraulic helm and run that. I did the hynautic system and now finally have full hydraulic. It would have been easier and less expensive in the long run.

If you have the complete set up why would you want to install half of it? IMO you'll be so happy with the full set up you'll wonder why you didn't change it over sooner. Now if you didn't have the full kit then I would agree that doing the add on for now would be an improvement but full hyd. is the way to go and a must I think in anything near or over 70mph. Just my 2cts.
