Default 496 Fresh Water Pump Assembly

Anybody have any tips on pressing the pully on to the shaft of the raw water pump? I'm replacing both of my water pumps and the pully's did not come already on the shaft.

I've had this question...Could you measure one of the old pumps? I have a pump on my bench and the shaft looks like it is pressed until the shaft is flush with the sheave. Sorry i cant post pics.

I have the old pumps still. I will measure and make sure the new pully's are in the same spot as the old ones. I'm just wondering if theres anythying to look out for while pressing the new ones on. I'm going to split the pump assembly and remove the impellar so that I can support the shaft somehow while pressing the pulley on. Don't want to do any damage to the bearings or anything else while doing this.

It's the same as a power steering pump in the way the pulley is removed and installed. You can buy or borrow one from an auto parts store. It will both pull and press the pulley.
