Default Morel lifter noise

Anybod find these to be very noisy? Mine are. 234/236 .600 HR cam, 175/450 spring pressure. Running 1.25 turns of preload. Running 10w-30 syn oil. Next, will try dino oil, then reduce seat pressure to 140-150. Then will try GM lifters again.

Yeah that sounds way too much...What did the installation instructions say?
Typically 1/4-3/4 of a turn, but this will vary based on the lifter.

Default Fixx

1.. unless your spinning your engine to 8k i would lower the spring pressure,175-375 should be plenty, 2...as stated readjust the prelosd on the lifters, they are acting like solids now that you overloaded the preload and 3... try a thicker oil,,im my eyes 10 w oils belong in a car and not a boat..

Morel plunger travel is a total of .141 to .143, and it was suggested to me by a Morel rep to run .75-1 turn. Can run all the way to 1.5 turns. I tried 1 turn, it was even louder.

1 turn after zero lash even seems high to me. Also, what method are you using to adjust valves? Sometimes the "spin the pushrod between your finger" method can make you think your at zero lash, but you can actually already be depressing the plunger.

I turned mine a little less than 3/4 turn more like 5/8 after preload. It is much easier for me to adjust with the intake off, that way you can actually see it the lifter is plunging. The cam manufacture should have specified the type of spring, and the intalled height. My lifters are very quiet so what you have is not normal. Do you have the premium lifter or the OEM lifter, there is a big difference in the machining and quallity.

Hmmmmm. I am asking the question that posters on this thread are already thinking. Who is the morel rep?

Mrfixall has it. Readjust the preload and change your oil to the correct weight. Then post your results.
