Default Holley 800 vs 830 for 489

I am still trying to narrow down the carb selection, and I have been reading a lot about the benefits of the 830 Holley's with the annular boosters. Apparently these help fuel atomization a lot, which results in much better throttle response and mid range.

However, I was talking to a guy this evening who told me that there were issues with part throttle lean conditions with the 830's. He went on to say that Bob Teague used to recommend the 830 over the 800's on performance engines, but that he had recently reversed his stance on this due to the lean issues. Has anyone else heard about this?

Thanks.
