Anyone know the length of the alternator belt for a 97 454 mag carb?

i dont know the length offhand, but if you have the original belt or part # from it advance auto or similair should be able to cross it with no issue. advance was able to cross all of my OEM belt #'s and actually had them ALL in stock for about $10 a pop.

Just run a piece of rope around all the pulleys to get an approximate length. Go to the parts store and get one that length. If not just right take it back and exchange it.

Yeah... I tried that, but used string. Apparently vbelts are measured from the outside of the belt rather than the inside...my measurement was off by about 3 inches....doh! I even bought 4 belts to be sure I had the right size ...that didn't work...back to parts house tomorrow QUOTE=picklenjim;3456657]Just run a piece of rope around all the pulleys to get an approximate length. Oh well, you'll get it. Best to use the shortest possible that will work on the adjusting bracket.
