Crankshaft mounted water pumps.
I just installed new empellas and end plates in my water pumps. The pumps are in a 292 Formula with a pair of big blocks.
Boy I know I am getting old but those damn pumps were extremely difficult to remove especially getting the hoses of the back of the pumps.
Has anyone here installed the crankshaft mounted sea water pumps ? Seems the degree of difficulty would be much less with the crankshaft mounted pumps.
Thanks in advance for the reply.

I've had engines with timing cover mounted and driven water pumps. Yes they are easilly accessable. I haven't used a crank set up but I imagine they are similar? I guess it all depends on 1. do you have the space in the front of the engine and 2. how much money do you want/have to spend to have the occasional impeller change?

Yes if you do have the room, they can be easier and the quality of the pump body and parts are MUCH higher than the plastic body and by far better then the new style Merc. pumps. We have put on some that jabsco makes and they are very high quality. The only thing is you may have to pull the motors to get the hoses on right. Good Luck
