Default motor decisions

I have a person wanting to buy one of my motors for 5500(the one in my boat) and my stock 330hp for 1800.

Now what i also have (in the pictures) is same as whats in my boat a 454(i got both motors for 5g), 4 bolt, with square port heads, merlin hi rise, gill aluminum manifolds, Holley HP DP 830, steel crank casting # 3963521 and stock rods, looks like full roller rockers threw the oil fill hole(never had the valve covers off) has srp pistons 73F (unknown compression), unknown cam. thunderbolt v8-24 ignition, it has 150hrs.

Now with this extra freed up money i want more power, i was told they were 500hp motors( i dont think they are) but all i can do is spin a mirage 23 with an extra cup at 5000rpms at 64 on gps in my 272 baja.

Should a person 496 this and charge it?( i can get a new supercharger from a guy for 1500 that was never used, Im not sure what it is yet) or sell it also (BB boat motors are not easy to sell here though) and get a 540.

I live on a small lake in a valley about 1.5 miles wide by 12 long, so the boat is never really drove hard for too long. Id like something that can get up and fly, but be good for idling around also. My fastest competition here is a 23' carlson with a 502 and a 23 baja islander with a 496HO.

I am a little confused it looks like you have three 454s if I understand right, but I am not sure what your goal is speed wise.

I would probably sell all those motors and start fresh and build a 540 and put a supercharger on it and run low boost, say 5-6 lbs or so for longevity.

Supercharged motors get out of the hole and up to speed a lot faster than N/A motors. You would probably need 700hp to get that Baja well over 80

Read some of Smitty's, (Articfriends ) posts, it takes a lot of HP to make a Baja 272 go fast. A friend of mine had well over 700hp in his and only saw 77 on the GPS.
