Default impeller and housing

where can i find an impeller and a housing for a 496mag? my mechanic told me he cannot get the housing and that it is back ordered several months...? is he blowing smoke?

im new to the bravo one always had alphas and my alphas had the water impeller in the lower unit of the out drive is the seawater pump the same thing? if so i would just need the rebuild kit which is readily available online?

i just put a new impeller on mine last year and all work fine.

The sea water pump for Bravos is mounted on the engine.

I think Hardin Marine makes a replacement for the 496

Much less than the Merc part.

Yes, I would recommend the Hardin Marine pump. It is a stainless replacement for a bronze body. Much more durable and a bit cheaper.

if its older the housing is discontinued and you have to get the new one and either it will fit or modify it somehow.
