Trailer Winter Storage, how to protect the brake rotors??
My trailer will be up on blocks for years, as the boat stays in a boathouse.
Don't have the inside space for the trailer, so it will have to stay outside.
Noticed the rotors in just two months, are really looking rusty.
What are the options to protect them?
I was going to spray them with rust check, cover with a garbage bag and duck tape them closed. But have heard & read that anything that touches the brake pads will damage them (why?? I have no clue)
One option would be to remove the pads, and then spray the rotors??
Or just spread the pads so they don't touch, then spray the rotors??

If you spray them with anything and don't remove it before you apply the brakes, they will first not work (not the proper friction couple), and it will glaze over the rotors and contaminate the pads. I'd suggest two options:
1) Remove the pads, coat the rotors, bag them, and use plenty of laquer thinner first and brake cleaner second before putting the pads back in and using them.
2) Remove the rotors and bring them inside, might be just as easy if you have the pads off already.
