Default I need some help regarding gauges

Hi guys

I would like to replace my orignal guges in my 242SS

I am thinking of Livorsi mega gauges

My boat is in winterized at the moment and I do not have
the possibilty to check the diameter and sizes of the original gauges.

Any one know if it is plug and play with my Mercruiser
454 330 Hp Gen V and what sizes I should order from
Livorsi. Also what do I need to buy to get every thing running with my engine?

Info asp will be appreciated, have a change to join a transport to Norway end of next week :-)

I can't comment on the gauge sizes as I don't know but if you replace your gauges with Livorsi you will need to buy new sending units as the Merc sending units are not compatible with Livorsi gauges.

Merc sending units are compatible with Livorsi gauges. Your gauge size is 3-3/8" for the tach and speedo and 2-1/16" for the smaller gauges. Let me know if i can help with an order.

Hi Bill

I also thought that the merc sending units where copatible
good to get this confirmed,

I have seen som 5 gauges kits (Mega series) do you also
offer this? I am also consider Speedo, triim meter and deutsch connectors

Further I am considering to change my stock exhaust system. I checked your web page and saw that you
have a offer on a Emi system

Send me a mail with your phone number maybe we can do some business

Best regards
Rune

I apologize if I gave you wrong information. When I upgraded I was told they weren't compatible. Guess I got taken....

I have a 242SS (1991 model) they came with VDO "Blue Line" gauges. So, the senders will most likely be VDO brand to match. You can get a VDO catalog online and check the dimensions. Just checking my copy of the catalog, they had 52 mm and 85 mm sizes as the cut-out holes. The 85 mm were for the speedometer and the tachometer.. The rest were the 52 mm.

There is also a 100 mm size, but based on my measurements, it was not used on the 242SS.

You will need to replace the fuel level sender with the livorsi.
get the float style. The VDO sender was the wrong resitance for the Livorsi. I replaced all my guages last year and almost ran out of gas with the guage showing 5/8 tank. All other guages worked fine with the stock senders.
on my "97" 382 the VDO's were larger than the standard guage dia and smaller than monster guages. so I went with the Monster guages. I think they look better and a blind person in the back seat could read them.

Would you happen to know the actual size of your VDO guages out of your 97' Formula. I own a 01' 370SS that also has the factory original flush mount VDO guages and I'm looking to upgrade my dash as well. I want to re-use my original dash plates so I was thinking maybe I could double up the bezels to make a new guage fit ???? I'm looking into guages from Hardin Marine
