2013 Detroit Gold Cup Classic Offshore Race
Dick Smith and I with the help of Steve West and Jim Joyner are close to the end of the restoration of the Mirage 9mss Wolverine.
Steve West who has done an exceptional job on the design, fiberglass and paint work is friends with an organizer for the annual Thunderfest Hydroplane races here in Detroit.
He stopped by the shop to see the boat and called me to inquire about the history of it. During our conversation he asked if a group of like boats could be assembled for next years race to run the course in a "Old School" race for the fans.
We thought it would be a great time and were hoping for some input from other old race boat owners if you would be interested in participating?
It is traditionally the weekend following the fourth of July.
The race would be in the Detroit River that Sunday. It's a great event and always draws a large crowd. If you think it's something you would be interested in let me know.

I think if you have a vintage boat it will be a great day. The course is traditionally flat so the ride should be smooth. The crowd is almost always big and with the right weather it will be a great venue.

It would be great to see some vintage boats from out of state make it. However with transport cost the way they are I understand.
Should something change in the next year and it becomes something you do consider please let me know and I will help anyway I can.
