Default X dimention on straight v

Guys need some input. I have a 28ft conventional v. Boat will have a single big block. Not sure where to set x. I'm getting mix answers. Some say prop 2-21/2 below bottom an some say 3 1/2-4 below. The hull is the cig mold.

Thanks ron

what drive? if it's a std. length bravo with 500 -700 hp than 17" would be a good start. I guess the question is what was the X and shaft depth before the re rig?

The boat had outboards on a bracket. So transom has never been cut. I'm running a bravo standard hight w a 540 675hp

For reference, 28 Panteras are set at 17-17.5 and that puts the propshaft about 4-4.5" below the bottom

you can get spacers to put a bravo deeper. so i would consider going a little higher. start at the top and make sure everything fits under the hatch first.

I wouldn't go higher than 17" and check the bottom see how much rocker or hook it has. If it has none go 16" to minimize porpoise.
