Default Team amsoil offshore battles for the overall title in jupiter, fl

Team AMSOIL Offshore traveled to Jupiter, Florida to compete in the OPA World Championships. After finishing up second in the OPA National High Point Title race, Team AMOSIL was on a mission to repeat last year’s World Championship win.

Race teams were pitted at Carlin Park, adjacent to the Old A1A Highway, and across the street from the public viewing of the north end of the 6-mile course in the Atlantic Ocean. This position provided for a great display for motorists and fans which drew crowds in to view the boats and interact with the racers. Additionally, Team AMSOIL’s prime pit location included a complete AMSOIL product display by Willard Burner.

The Atlantic Ocean in South Florida can produce various water conditions. A week prior to the event, sea conditions were reported as “huge”, blocking the ability to exit the Jupiter Cut.

As the week went on, the conditions for the Friday race were a favorable 2- to 3-foot swell with a about a 2-foot chop, with the wind blowing out of the South at about 10 knots.

Bob Teague and Paul Whittier tested various set ups on Thursday, the day before the race, only to find that Friday’s sea conditions were somewhat calmer than the day before.

Accordingly, Bob made the call to change the set up to something that hadn’t been tried the day before. As it turned out, it was the right decision. Team AMSOIL, starting in the second lane, took an early lead and held on for a win in Friday’s race by 26 seconds ahead of Phoenixparts.com.

Festivities on Saturday included huge crowds at the festival in the pits which included live bands on stage for the day. The event was well advertised for fans to come and view the boats and have autographs signed by the racers.

As the evening progressed on Saturday, so did the intensity of the winds. During the night, the winds continued to increase. By morning, it was apparent from the shore that the seas would be even rougher than they were on Friday. The winds switched to a NNE direction at about 14 knots by the time the Super Cat Lite boats raced around 3 PM.

Team AMSOIL made a couple of last minute adjustments which were not quite right for the conditions. As the course roughed up, it was apparent that the weight balance was not ideal.

When the green flag dropped, Phoenixparts.com took the lead and set a pace that kept them out front during Sunday’s heat.

Infinity finished 2nd and Team AMSOIL 3rd in Sunday’s race, placing Team AMSOIL 2nd overall in the OPA World Championships event.

We are proud to announce that AMSOIL is the returning sponsor for the 2012 AMSOIL Offshore Powerboat Series sanctioned by OPA Racing. AMSOIL’s great sponsorship package, dedicated racing department team and superior lubricants all make it possible for Team AMSOIL Offshore Racing to achieve success! Team AMSOIL is “one of the most accomplished offshore racing teams ever” and has captured the OPA High Points Championship in its class for the last 5 years, including presentation of the prestigious Stugots Cup, awarded to the Team for an Overall High Points Championship in 2011.

The AMSOIL Dominator Racing Oil continues to be proven as the best choice for the Mercury Racing 525 EFI engines. The Team has also proven that the absolute best oil for a Mercury dry-sump VISSM drive is AMSOIL “MCF.” Teague Custom Marine is an authorized AMSOIL dealer and offers the complete line of high performance lubricants in its store and for purchase over the phone.
