Question 1972 49' Cigarette Racing express cruiser "Night Moves"

Hi everyone,

I owe a boat with the hull number 497101 (49' 1971 #01 hull.)

From the research that I have done, I believe that 1971 was the first year that Cigarette Racing was in business?

Could "Night Moves" be their first commercial production boat, or maybe just first in the 49' series?

If anyone has info to share or know where I can find out more about my boat, I sure would appreciate it.

The word around the campfire is that Don Aronow had a friend who was a lady offshore racer and "Night Moves" was custom build for her so she could take friends out on the water and party.

It seems like Cigarette Racing doesn't know or doesn't care much about these old boats, but I have to say, she has classic lines and turns heads. Would love to know more about her.

Night Moves was a 40' Performer (molds were aquired from Cigarette) raced (I think) by Bill Elswick. Have you had the tape measure on it? I don't remember Cigarette making a 49? The 40'Cigarette was the same hull as "Bounty Hunter" and "Cam II ". A piture is worth a thousand words!

Night moves was a 36 Cigarette that was raced by Bill Elswick in the summer of 1978 and it was painted all black and had John Player Special livery put onit for the World Championships in Argentina of December of 1978. During the race, the boat sank and is at the bottom of the Southern Atlantic ocean

What this guy probably has is one of the early 49 foot Carys. Don took the measurment of his winning 32 foot Cary and multiplied it by 1.5 or something like that (Brownie would know for sure) and he had a new 49 foot boat.

I agree Top Banana, 49' Cary would be my bet.
