Anyone tow a 30 footer with 1996 or 1997 F-250
Let start by saying I don't care about mopars, chevys or any other trucks. I am thinking about buying a 97 F-250 because I like the looks of this truck and it would look great with my boat behind it. But anything thing less than a 350... Well I don't know if I would be comfortable with it towing down the interstate. Is there anyone out there that has this model truck and tows a 30 footer or bigger that can tell me if it handles good or bad? (1997 or 96 f-250 ext cab 7.3L 4x4). Thanks Mark

They handle fine. You could tow a 35 or even a 38 with a 250. Those trucks continue to demand good money. To be honest a 99 and up super duty rides better, stops better, more comfortable seats, and are typically cheaper for some reason. I've had both. I prefer the super duty and still have one. Sold my obs 2 years ago.

Yup, did a AFE turbo back exhaust, cold air intake and SCT tunes. No problem. Those small mods made a ton of difference.
If you get one check out the power transfer through the transmission, they don't have a tow/ haul mode and the tranny reacts different with OD off and manually shifting 1-2.
I agree with lil red but if you find a clean OBS you get a lot of comments.
I have been thinking of upgrading the seats and added a banks intercooler.

I tow the Phantom back and forth from Fla with my daily driver f3504x4 and did the same with my old 30 Velocity and 96 f250 with no issues. Both trucks lack creature comfort but I bring a pillow. Good tires is key, imo and a tranny cooler.

I think the suspension on my 94 F250 was better for towing then my 99 that I replaced it with, I towed many loads with all my F250's the 2002 F250 CC 4X4 I have nopw tows almost as good as my 99 CC 4X4 dually, not sure why, I had a 38 Sonic with tripples weighing 16,500 behond both my dually and 250, both pulled great!
I love a clean OBS F250/350, there is something about them, but I like my 99 up trucks more... better comforts...
