Default baja stereo help

I have asked questions before but I still need help. Im trying to upgrade my stereo but am trying to do it cheapest i can. I dont need the best stereo but want a decent one and my biggest priority is hearing it in the water when we are anchored or tied up. I just bought 2 comp 12s to put under rear bench. Should I just mount them free air or try some kind of boxes? Im also leaning toward polk mm 6.5s but like I said I want best set up for listening in the water. Ive considered speakers on transom but it scares me? Anyone mount speakers on dash beneath windshield? Or have speaker boxes they put on sunpad when parked? Any info is appreciated and thanks

If you want to hear the stereo when you're in the water swimming, the best option is to get some extra speakers that you can set out on the hatch or swim platform.
Get a couple DC Gold's and put them in a small box. 100% water waterproof.

depends on what type of amp you run, a good amp will draw less power than a junk amp, Unfortunatelly I put 1700 watts of Rockford Fosgate amps in my Checkmate Convincor 270 last year, Its pretty loud when the exhaust is turned off and I am putting out of the bay. As soon as the exhaust switch flips and I throttle up, I dont care how much money I spent on stereo equiptment, You cant hear it.

I have a 89 baja 23'5 and put a set of 6x9's in the rear of the bolsters. Im talking about where the vinyl covered wood piece slides around/into the bolster(at least on mine). Had to open the inside(plastic) for the speaker to sit all the way in. Its points the sound out towards the stern and is up of the floor and mounted.

Craigslist is your friend, I have mostly used stuff and a few new things, I have under 1500 in whole thing and its all JL and Alpine top of the line...

I have 4JL 10's
4 Alpine type R 6x9's
2 Alpine type s 5 1/4's
2 Alpine type r tweeters..

JL 1000/1
JL 300/2
JL 300/4

this stuff new would be well over 3000.00 and it is FUKKING amazing sounding....

I got all amps and subs from craigslist, the Alpines are akll new...

you build a hell of a stereo for not a ton of money if you do it right
