Default sea water pump hose connection

the intake part of the housing goes to lh out correct? and the exit to rh out? on a normal rotation bb gm

Yes unless it's a serpentine belt, then it's the other way.

I got it now thank, i ownly smoked 1 impellar, i always get this backwards.

You would think they would just put a simple "in" and "out" on the housing. Guess you have to be an engineer to understand.

A "Standard" Mercruiser engine is left hand as viewed from the rear .The hose to the motor hooks to LH out .Intake hose from transom hooks to RH out ...RH out = inlet water

Im not mechanically sound enough to know the rotations, so i just remembered the lower is to water, the upper is to engine. engine sits above the water.
if i ever roll my boat, ill reverse the hoses.

ahh yes been through this before. Next year I am going to take nail polish and write LH and RH on the hoses before I take them off

I believe my bottom hose is attached to the oil cooler, top hose is attached to the drive pick-up. I hope that's right, I ran it that way last weekend....... 96 502 efi.

Do you even get water out of the exhaust if the hoses were to be hooked up backwards? I was solid at 160 degree water temps all day. Now i'm going to be thinking about this until I get home to look at it. Dang it!
