385HP 454 Rod knock
Boat is a 370 Regal with twin 385HP 454's and belongs to a friend. Engines had around 300 hours on them when the port engine had a rod knocking. Port engine (S/N 0L086675) was replaced with a new crate motor and everything is running fine again. My friend is real meticulous and is a bit OCD. Every year he goes and repaints the engine and gen because it doesn't look good. He runs royal purple oil and K&N oil filters.
Here it is 5 years later and the port engine has a rod knocking again. The port engine has about 250 hours on it. Now for the question, what could cause the same engine to go bad the same way twice?
Figured this one out..........No need to respond
