Dual ram hydraulic add on - hard to turn
I just added a dual ram Mayfair hydraulic steering add on kit. The system is much harder to turn quickly. This is specifically noticable around docks when turning fast. It's like the stock pump can't keep up with both rams. Any thoughts on how to fix this? Bigger pulley? Different pump? Stronger forearms? I put the same system on two boats and both have similar results.
The kits are really nice and fixed the high speed stability issue but require a lot more muscle near the launch.

If it isn't a full hydraulic system, what your getting is normal. I had the same issue with my marine machine dual ram setup until I went and converted to full hydraulic. Now I can turn with two fingers at idle.

You need to plan ahead and turn the wheel slower when at idle. If you can not live with that you will need to go full hydraulic. Likely this is not what you want to hear but once you get used to it is no big deal. However once you go full hydraulic you will never go back!

Even with full hydraulic you need to put a little effort in it but it is much smoother & you can let go of the wheel @ 50mph & not have it move as with cable or partial hydraulic systems. Randy
