Default Sandwich Plate for Imco Powerflow

I want to put widebands in my Donzi 28ZX permanently with my 350 Mag MPI procharger set up. I was thinking the easiest and safest way to mount the O2 sensors would be to have an aluminum spacer plate made to fit between the manifold and riser with an Imco gasket on each side of it. Has anyone tried this before and did it work well?

I did a set and just welded bungs in the top of the tails just past the bend. $20 for bungs and 2 hours labor. Worked great and looked fine with plugs in place.

I was concerned about them leaking if the stainless wasn't welded exactly so. I thought the plates might be a bit more foolproof.
