I am running a Stainless Marine crossover with a bypass on my built 524 (700hp) and it works great. I make sure the Merc seawater pump is healthy and the engine temps stay within range even when running really hard. I think the big trick is to use a Stewart racing thermostat with the 3 relief holes. I boat in everything from 40 degree water to 75 degree water and the temps are very consistent. After running hard and dropping to an idle my temps will go from 160 to just over 185 and then come right down.

I believe that the $1295 is for Merc Tstat housings and he is wanting to switch to less expensive crossovers.

that is correct $1295 each, what a rip off by Merc . my 575's run such a perfect water and oil temp I really hate to mess with it, but, $2,600 for 2 little thermo housing it may be time to make the change
