I ran one for many years, only put a little over 300 hrs on it. It was built by Hogan and it is built like a tank. A real work of art! Had it setup for two 1000cfm throttle bodies and EFI. Expensive but it did look cool!

When you build a sheet metal intake you are starting with a blank sheet of paper, so you can design them to preform where ever you want. Pleum size runner length and shape can be made to help work with your heads and cam. I just had Hogan build me 2 they are amazing

They seem to do fine in NA applications, as long as it's a quality built intake. The problems come in when guys try to use them with a SC on top. All the weight up top being bounced around is asking for trouble. I know a few guys that have tried and they all cracked constantly.
