Default Aero Marine & AM Hot Rod Glass Fabricate Acrylic Parts for the Marvel Blockbuster Hit

Aero Marine has pushed the limits beyond anything they have fabrictated for the Motion Picture Industry in the past with the largest number of parts ever built for Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier. Aero Marine has developed the reputation in the movie industry as the company who can build the biggest, optically clear - film quality parts - with the fastest lead time.

Each new film project brings it's challenges and Aero Marine works closely with everyone from Directors, Special Effects, Set Designers, Production Assistants to Logistics.

"This was our first film for Marvel/Disney and it really pushed our fabrication abilities and showed us that everything is possible", said Carmen Belanger-Martin, President of Aero Marine & AM Hot Rod Glass.
Aero Marine's automotive division AM Hot Rod Glass took on the task of fabricating several optically clear polycarbonate windshield replacements for special effects. When the scene calls for stunt men & women scenes to have a vehicle blowup or crash the actors/stunt unions require as much protection as possible yet the film crew still needs optics and clarity to film the action packed scene.

That's where AMHRG's expertise comes into play with fabricating the automotive vehicle windshields. Disney Films required expedited turn around times for pre-production before heading to filming locations. Special Effects needed to pre-test scenes to ensure their concept or design worked and keeping up with their needs put Aero Marine & AMHRG to the test. Once again, it was a successful challenge for our marine & automotive fabrication teams.

Disney film's special effects group gave us the opportunity to work with 3D printing and it was the first time AM & AMHRG has ever fabricated parts with that type of mold application. 3D Printing times were incredible and the accuracy was perfect. This type of tooling allowed the special effects group to make design changes and make new molds within 24 hours and once Aero Marine received them they went right into production.

Aero Marine also used similar processes for fabricating optically AM Windshields and applied that same methodology to the concepts designed by the special effects designers. Communicating effectively and being able to deliver every part the studio requests on time or early has provided Aero Marine with the reputation of being the largest optically clear fabricator in the United States.
Aero Marine & AM Hot Rod Glass have contributed to various parts both big and smaller scenes. "Watching Captain America 2 was awesome! I finally got to see everything we worked on come to life and my favorite scenes are:

The original SHIELD Headquarters - all of the CRT monitors and glass-type parts you see are acrylic.
The elevator scene - we used acrylic during the scene.

The best was watching the World Security Counsel's video call/meeting - we built 8' and 10' half cylinders, the scene showed the projected images on them and you were able to look through them and see the chairs behind the acrylic walls that was amazing! Amazing!", said Belanger-Martin. "This movie solidifies who Aero Marine & AM Hot Rod Glass are and clearly/simply explains why we are the best in the U.S. and I am very proud of my crew, very proud".
