Default Mefi 1 ecm bad, ideas??

Ok, so I had originally discussed this issue under "Help Merc 454 Mag No Start around May 1st. After going through miles of wires, diagrams, troubleshooting, etc. I resorted to swapping the good motor ECM with the no-start side and motor fired up. Send it to someone to have it looked at and they said it's cooked and not communicating in any way. So do I spend $1100 on a new one that is already flashed or attempt to save $$ on one off Ebay or something? Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks Gents

I would try to buy a used one personally. No shame in saving a boat load of cash. Maybe even another OSO member has one they want to part with.

I have one that was a spare. It needs a reflash if going on a 454.

I'm not associated with this sale. Offered only as a source. Surprised the ECM is cooked. They are generally robust units.

I would go used also, I've bought some MEFI 3's off this board and they all worked, make sure it has the correct tune in it, the link above doesn't specify what it came off of.

Thanks but it's GM # 16189069 and MERC # 806719T4, I know there are a few used ones around $850 but you have no idea what your getting and if it needs re-flashed it will run you another $200 plus shipping all over the place. Had to believe it's fried, as most say they are very tough. Maybe just had a power surge while charging batteries or something.

Call Tyler Crockett, I bet he has some used units that he would sell cheap with the proper tune loaded.

Don't buy new

I posted this only as an example. There were several other MEFI 1s for sale. Haxby and others might have some lying around as well. There is a high probability you would need to load the ECM regardless.
