Firepower control box
Need help lost control box on center engine. Mercruiser no longer sells Firepower and says it was made by MSD who says it wasn't. Anyone have experience with what to do. The boat is 419 Sr1 Formula with 3 502 / 465hp engines.

The Firepower ignition was made by a company called Nu Tech (forget exactly how they spelled it) which is long out of business. It was unique in that it had a built in timing curve. The Crane Hi6 M is a good replacement but I'm not sure if they are still available new, they don't advertise them if they are. Used ones show up every once in a while. There is another company that still makes this box (I heard they made it for Crane), but the name escapes me. It's a smaller company that you find advertising anywhere.

That's it. They have what you need. I needed that info also in case I ever lose a Crane box. Thank you

Do you have a picture of the Firepower box? I may have one stuffed in a box on the shelf from years ago.. A visual would help..
PM me if you get a picture of it posted. That is the fastest way to get my attention.

I might have a pic somewhere. Mine was blue anodized aluminum and was the typical rectangle size of a cd ignition box. It also had 1 or maybe 2 led's on the end that indicated the status of the box. No switches, dials or wire lugs were visible, the wiring was permanently attached.

I have had done a few conversions in the part but they were retrofit kits from Merc. Funny they were also in a triple engine Formula. For a few years we were able to keep them working by spraying them down with WD-40.

Mine is black if I remember correctly.. Headed out for the weekend. I will try and remember to look for it when I return.. If Rugolema still needs it..
