Default PPP On the James River VA 19 July 2014

While it's not a poker run per say it is a HUGE boating event that if you're in the VA area is well worth checking out. Just wanted to get the word out here since I know there are a lot of people in the VA MD NC area that may not be aware. This event has been going on for several years, I've been the last 4 years in a row, and must say it's the biggest party on the water maybe on the east coast. As far as event size goes I'd guess on the order of 500 boats on a year that had thunder storms rolling through all day to a lot more on a good year. I'm sure others in the area will chime in but it's a fun event that has something for everyone. If you stay to the outside of the event it's a chill day on the water with a ton of people but if you venture into the center core it's a lot more risqué with everything from dancing girls to full nudity craziness. If you're looking to come plan to get there early or it'll be tough to get to the center.

Hope I'm not overstepping by putting this in the Poker Run Forum, just want to get the word out about a great event.

Get your priorities straight, you're racing is getting in the way of to much boating fun, PPP and Jammin, gotta draw the line somewhere. Just asking but how many chicks in bikinis will you see at the race track?

Ive never been to PPP, but have been told it is well worth the trip up there for sure. We may try to make it this year. I thought it was in Aug. after jammin.

Jammin used to be earlier in July then switched to August to try and deconflict some other runs. For awhile PPP was the weekend after Jammin which made for upset livers and lots of "sick" days. If you're anywhere close I highly reccomend it. I'd consider it a roudy mardigras on the water. Not saying anything is for sure but there's generally a pretty good show from a best breast competition to frankly some CRAZY stuff that generally goes down. Or you can stay to the outside and hang with the family if that's your gig but the party is in the dense middle group of boats.

As for location it's located at a place known as Chippokes, not sure why it's called that but regardless if you're coming from the Richmond area it's just pass Jamestown and to the left or if you're coming from the Ches Bay Area come up the river past the ghost fleet and when you get to the turn in the river by Kings Mill turn left and follow the coast around past the power station and you can't miss it. The area stays pretty shallow quite away's offshore and if tide is out when you get there I reccomend coming in as shallow as you can or you'll be swimming at high tide. The bottom is a nice clean sand bottom so come out and enjoy the debotchery.
