Looking for information on a stock to Ilmor performance engine swap. Wanted to know if things are truely plug and play type, any kind of custom mods required, cost, etc.

Uh....NO. What engine are you removing and what engine are you planning on putting in? Are you talking about one of Ilmor's V10's or one of the LS engines? What boat do you have? Single or twin? We need to know a little more info. However, it is certainly not a plug and play by any means.
Nice looking install Brian.

It was a brief summary statement while referring to wire harnesses. Was wondering if Ilmor used any of Mercs wiring. I'm new to the marine aspect of performance, but I am familiar with auto performance and some aftermarket go fast parts manufacturers sometimes design parts that will adapt to stock design.

They use different wiring hookups for the gauges (10 pin or 14 pin harness for Merc). I don't see why you couldn't get a plug from each, along with a wiring schematic, and wire the 2 plugs together. However, it may be easier to just purchase the boat side harness from Illmor and just run new harnesses to the dash. Everything else should be pretty staight forward since both engines are pretty self contained. They both need battery + and-, fuel supply, power steering lines, etc. You will have to change the mounts as well, but that isn't a big deal either. Good luck, and post some pics.

[QUOTE=Rattlesnake Jake;4205842]Helluva lot easier and less costly to bump the HP in the Mercs I would think..[/QUOT
Looks like the way to go. It seems the nickel and diming aspect will be very expensive.
