[ATTACH=CONFIG]534687[/ATTACH] This is the only photo I have of Mel accepting a trophy. The race was the Miami-Nassau in 1968 driving the Mona Lu III. The three people in the photo are Mel Riggs, Bob Tetzlaff and the race judge John Landmesser. They broke the old record that was set the previous year by time by six minutes at a average speed of more than 58 miles-per-hour. If you have a photo or photos of Mel I would like to see them. And if you want give him a call and wish him a happy birthday I'm sure he's tired of watching the snowfall up here!! COME ON LET'S SEE THE PHOTOS OF THE OLD BIRTHDAY BOY!!!!

I work for Mel rebuilding marine transmission. Every year I buy a birthday cake for him and I put an old photo of him or a race boat that he raced on the cake. Last year I lifted a photo off here that littlenige posted. This year I did not have a good photo of Mel to put on his cake. I had one of his sons this year make a comment on the cake ( THAT IS NOT A RACE BOAT) I had to put on a cruiser boat that the bakery had on hand. So that is why I'm looking for new photos. And to the second part of your question . I 'm a fan to anybody that races a boat past and present. So if someone has some photos they can post them here or send me private email I would love to see them. Thanks
