Default PIRATES OF LANIER CHARITY POKER RUN, July 16 -19, 2015 (Official Thread)

The Pirates of Lanier are at it again. Registration, hotel block and slip rentals are now online and ready. We thank all that attended in 2014 and invite our old friends as well as new to join us at Lake Lanier, Georgia, just North of Atlanta, for the 7th annual Pirates of Lanier Charity Poker Run 2015, “America’s Top Charitable Poker Run”, cresting $400,000 dollars last year having raised $1,000,000 dollars for our chosen charities over the last seven years.
Dust off your best pirate attire, sign up and we will be ready for you, July 16-19, for a fun three day weekend event with a relaxed open card stop format with many choices for lunch. New this year, all registered attendees will receive a Pirates of Lanier Lanyard enabling free access to and from the docks, Sunset Cove and Gianni’s restaurants. Sunset Cove kitchen has been upgraded and doubled in size with an expanded menu. We have already put in the order for sunshine so the “Cheeseburger in Paradise” raft up on Friday should be over the top this year. Looking forward to seeing you all there to help us help Georgia’s kids in need.

Calling all Pirates and Boaters,

The Pirates of Lanier are at it again. The Pirates of Lanier Charity Poker Run will be celebrating our 7th annual event on July 16-19, 2015! Last year we reached our goal of $400,000 dollars and after seven years Lanier Partners has raised over $1,000,000 dollars to benefit our chosen charities. We could never have reached these lofty goals without the wonderful support of Lake Lanier's local boaters, homeowners and businesses, as well as our out of town friends. Each and every one of you are truly appreciated. For our out of town friends we have included details below in hopes of creating a seamless event for all.

This year our goal is $450,000 dollars, so we need your help again. Our website at www.piratesoflanier.com is now ready and registration is open. We have streamlined the sign up system, so after you enter the poker run you will receive an email receipt with the codes for making your hotel reservations and reserving your slips at Sunset Cove. So now is the time to mark your calendars, Join the poker run so you will be among the first to choose your slip location and to make sure you get one of the great choices of accommodations at Legacy Lodge. Check out the Lakehouses, they are two bedroom, kitchen, living room and deck, in addition to Lodge rooms and Villas.

There are some new things this year, as with each year we strive to make it better and more fun. You will get your reservation codes included in your email receipt after entering, no secondary Welcome Aboard email. All details are on the Event Schedule on the website under 2015 EVENT.

Next, Lanier Partners will issue all registered participants a Pirates of Lanier Lanyard which will allow you unlimited access in and out of the docks, Sunset Cove and Gianni's restaurant valid Thursday thru Sunday. Yes that is right, no more daily charges for beach access. Lanyards may be picked up by registered participants at Grand Hall in Sunset Cove Parking lot Thursday, Friday morning and at Registration Friday from 12:00 noon til 8:00 PM.

As you arrive Thursday there are several gas stations on Lanier Islands Parkway, also NEW this year there is a fuel dock in Sunset Cove offering 93 Octane and ICE! Holiday Marina also has 93 Octane.

There will be boat/truck washing available at the Entrance guard shack for Holiday Marina (6900 Lanier Islands Parkway, Buford, GA 30518) Self wash or call ahead to Brad Hayes for detail service(770) 910-4421

Our Boat ramp is the same as last year. As you approach the Entrance to Lake Lanier Islands at the roundabout our Welcome Crew will be there, Thursday, July 16, 12:00 Noon til 5:00, to direct you left at the roundabout just before the Lanier Islands Entrance gate. Down the hill is the boat ramp and up the hill is plenty of trailer parking in a large, lighted, paved lot with hourly security.

For any of you sending your boats and flying in, the Atlanta Airport is about a 1 hour drive. Once on Lanier Islands there is not much need for a car and the hotel rents golf carts, therefore you might want to prearrange our trusted friend, James Davenport (404) 399-5899 who can provide SUV or Limo service. UBER is also available but James will be cheaper.

If you are arriving by private aircraft land at Lee Gilmer Memorial airport (GVL) in Gainesville, Georgia. 15 - 20 minute car ride to Lanier Islands.

We welcome all of our old friends back and invite our new Captains to come out and enjoy a great three day weekend event on beautiful Lake Lanier which by the way is at Full Pool, even now in March. Dust off your best pirate garb, tune up those boats and be prepared to participate in "The Top Fundraising Poker Run in America"!

We surely encourage you to check out our Sponsor opportunities listed on the website. Check out these sponsorship levels and decide if one might fit your needs before you enter the Poker Run individually. We have additional naming sponsor opportunities that may not be listed on the website. Questions should be directed to: [email protected]

Wishing everyone a wonderful and safe boating season.

Your appreciative friends,

Lanier Partners of North Georgia, Inc
a 501(c)3 foundation

Ok, I signed up so now I need to reserve a good dock location. I have a 38 Donzi ZRC with Arnesons. Looks like E-dock is all booked up. What would you consider a "good" dock location for my boat?

Thanks,

Robert.
