Default wix oil filters

I have been using the Wix 51060R. It says for racing applications only. What exactly does that mean?. I noticed on the Wix 51060 standard filter everything is the same accept the Fl;ow Rate GPM. The 51060 has a flow rate of 9-11 GPM and the 51060R has a rating of 28 GPM. Is that the only difference.? How much oil does my engine pump? It only holds 8 quarts. Wouldn't a standard Wix 51060 be ok?

Just wondering

R flows more because it lets bigger partcles by,size that Apollard can see w/ the naked eye.
and the non R will be fine for your engine.

If you want more capacity you can run 51794 which is the same filter but taller (2 quarts).

With stock power the non-R filter is more than fine. With that flow rate you are filtering your oil approx. 2x per minute with a 5 quart pan.

You will be fine with the Non-"R" filter on your 500HP. Better filtering and more than adequate flow
