We always used Total Seal Gapless top ring in my circle track and Offshore race engines. Our old "B" class engines spun 6800rpm and the Total Seal ring would last a whole season. Conventional ring would last about 4-5 races.

I have run them I didn't like them. Motors used more oil than the standard rings for me and I see a lot of other people say the same thing. I was always a gapless guy till I backed it up.

My thoughts on this ring is it works to good and wont let the blow by push the oil down out of the piston ring pack causing it to over oil the cylinder walls. Just my thoughts. And if its so good why don't mercury use them or any car company? If they do please post.

^^^^^^^^.i think the cost stops the big 3 from using them.merc always seems to go the cheep route.must be the bean counters.i will say that the total seal conventional ring can produce a good seal if the block gets the proper hone.

I've heard the same thing from a couple different engine builders. All of the guys that complained about oil consumption said the same thing also. Engines had perfect leak down. I've never used them and always wanted to give them a shot but due to the mixed reviews I've been reluctant to try them. I went with Total Seal rings on my new build I asked Keith about using a gapless top and he said it wasn't the ring to use with everything I had going on.
